Neatness 5 %	Excellent Work is neatly and clearly written. If typed, Font/font size is appropriate and professional. Paper is clean and unfolded.	Good Work is written fairly neatly. Creativity 15 %	Excellent Fictional plot and setting of the character's life were clever, fresh, and entertaining. The prompt was not simple mimicked.	Good Some thinking clearly done with regards to elements of setting and plot. Interesting if not ground breaking.	Fair Directions were followed but choices were predictable and flat.	Poor Completely uncreative, the prompt was simply and obviously mimicked.
Conventions of Voice 20 %	Excellent Voice in the letter/speech seem very true to the character based on the novel. Interesting and WELL SUPPORTED choices of characterization such as slang, idioms, tone, etc. clear understanding of the character	Good Voice in the journal seem true to the character based on the novel. Well-supported choices of characterization (slang, idioms, tone, etc.) fairly clear understanding of character.	Fair Voice does not seem to cohere quite right with the character. Choices aren't well-supported Contradictions to the nature of the characters/ present without justification	Poor Doesn't sound like the character at all. Choices unsupported. Thematic Expression 30 %	Excellent Theme(s) was clear and justified well. Choices made to express theme were interesting and showed deep insight and analytic ability.	Good Theme(s) were readily identifiable and justified. Choices made to express theme showed a good level of thematic analysis and understanding.	Fair Theme was hard to identify and/or poorly justified. Choices made to express theme were ineffective and showed gap in understanding/analysis of theme	Poor Theme was unclear if present at all. No logical justification was given and choices made to express theme were either random or not present. Clear lack of thematic analysis.
