	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Student wrote on the prompt.	Poor "Attempts" to address the prompt. Answers were short and written without much thought.	Fair "Partially" addresses the prompt. Student could have added more information and thought to his/her answers.	Good "Adequately" addresses the prompt. Student added information that had some depth and adequate thought.	Excellent "Fully" addresses the prompt. Student went above and beyond with insight and depth to his/her answers.
Topic	Poor Relates slightly to the topic, has little supporting detail.	Fair Demonstrates an awareness of the topic with some supporting detail.	Good Relates to the topic with adequate supporting details.	Excellent Focuses on the topic with ample supporting details.
Organization	Poor Little or no evidence of a beginning, middle or end ( intro., body, conclusion).	Fair Attempts a beginning, middle, and end appropriate for the mode of writing ( intro. body, conclusion).	Good An apparent beginning, middle, and end appropriate for the mode of writing(intro. body, conclusion).
