Grading Criteria for English Speaking Assessment. Grading Criteria for English Speaking Assessment. This rubric is for use in a teacher interview, with material that has been studied and practiced in class. Speaking skill.

Pronunciation	Area of concern Student was difficult to understand, quiet in speaking, unclear in pronunciation.	Needs work Student was slightly unclear with pronunciation at times, but generally fair.	Good Pronunciation was good and did not interfere with communication	Very good Pronunciation was very clear and easy to understand.
Vocabulary	Area of concern Student did not know enough vocabulary words to express his/her ideas properly. Answers were very limited or not given.	Needs work Student was only able to use a few vocabulary words, making him/her repetitive and unable to expand on ideas.	Good Student utilized the words learned in class in an accurate manner for the situation given.	Very good Rich, precise and impressive usage of vocabulary words learned in and beyond class.
Comprehension	Area of concern Student had difficulty understanding the questions and topics that were being discussed.	Needs work Student grasped some of the questions and topics that were being discussed.	Good Student was able to comprehend most of the questions and topics discussed.	Very good Student was able to comprehend all of the questions and the topics discussed with ease.
Fluency	Area of concern Speech was very slow and stumbling, with no responses, except for short or memorized expressions.	Needs work Speech was slow and often hesitant. Some sentences unfinished, but the student was able to continue.	Good Speech was mostly smooth with some hesitation caused by rephrasing and searching for words.	Very good Speech was effortless and smooth with a good speed and flow.
Grammar	Area of concern Student was hard to understand. He/she had trouble stating ideas and responses because of grammar mistakes.	Needs work Student made some responses adequately but often had trouble with sentence structure and tenses.	Good Student expressed ideas and responses fairly well. When he/she made mistakes with tenses, was able to self correct.	Very good Student was able to express ideas and responses using correct sentence structure and tenses.
