Criteria	Poor Dance review covers one or two of the main categories, but does not expand upon the main topic of sections.	Fair Dance review covers a few of the main categories and some of the some sections.	Good Dance review covers all 5 categories and touches on one subsection under most Main categories	Excellent Dance review covers all 5 categories and multiple subsections within each category
Thoughtfulness	Poor Dance review only has a few facts or observation about the piece, but does not illustrate the writer's understanding of the piece.	Fair Dance review focuses on either the facts and observation about the piece OR the writer's opinion and connection, but fails to connect both together.	Good Dance review states facts about the piece as well as some opinions about the piece in relation to those facts.	Excellent Dance review mentions an appropriate description of the dance piece in connection with each category. In addition, the review contains the writer's thoughts, connections and opinions in relation to the piece.
Flow	Poor The Dance review is not written in complete sentences and does not seem to connect ideas together.	Fair The review is written with complete sentences, but does not have a flow between the categories, opinions, and observations.	Good The Dance review is written in complete sentences and covers all 5 categories, but doesn't necessarily connect between one section to the next.	Excellent The Dance Review not only covers all 5 categories, but flows from one section to the next so it creates a clear beginning middle and conclusion. Written in well formed, complete sentences.
Overall	Poor The dance review is not thorough and although the writer watched the piece, the writer failed to make clear observations or connections with the piece.	Fair The review is mostly complete. It is clear the writer watched the piece, but primarily made observations and somewhat failed to connect anything to the piece.	Good The review is appropriately written. It covers all minimum aspects and it seems the writer took a little time to form a couple of thoughts and opinions about the piece.	Excellent The dance review is well written and thoughtful. It is clear the writer took time to understand the piece, consider questions and make observations and connections.
