Writing Process	EXCELLENT Students have written an in depth response to the writing prompt. All sentences are grade appropriate and required length has been met.	Proficient Students have written a response; however, sentences were not grade appropriate and/or required length has not been met.	NEEDS WORK Students did not write enough of a response for full assessment. Sentences were below grade level and student did not put much thought into response.
Spelling	EXCELLENT There are 0-2 spelling errors that do not interfere with understanding.	Proficient There are many spelling errors and errors are elementary.	NEEDS WORK There are spelling errors that interfere with understanding.
